One of my absolute favorite flowers and scents is lavender. When I smell lavender, I think peace and comfort and clean. I was so excited to find out that my mother-in-law had some big lavender plants already planted and established in her flower garden here at my new home! It was a relief to have some healthy lavender, because due to my black thumb of plant death, the chances of me successfully growing this delightful flower are very slim.

I kept fresh bouquets in my kitchen during the peak growing season, but once I saw it starting to dry up, I clipped a bunch to hang and dry. I roughly followed these instructions and was pleased with the outcome. I now have several bunches to use around the house, or in the kitchen.

I’ve seen several recipes using dried lavender that look both interesting and delicious (always a good combination). I once had a lavender latte from a coffee shop, and it was pretty delish, so that is first up on the list to try out with my dried lavender. I’ll make a lavender honey syrup, and then use that in a latte, and also in this.

Other uses:

– Sugar scrubs
– Dryer bags (I use these and love them! I’ll have to attempt to DIY when my supply runs out)
– Drawer sachets (for those stale smelling drawers)
– Lotions or soaps (if you really feel DIY’er)

I keep a supply of lavender essential oil in my kitchen, and use it in homemade cleaners and room sprays. I also always put a few drops in my mop water and it leaves the house smelling so clean and fresh! Sometimes I combine it with orange essential oil, but it is just as good on its own.
