WEEKEND + FIVE THINGS

February 16, 2015

It’s a good thing we have love to keep us warm around here, because it is cold outside! I don’t think I’ve ever felt such cold before in my life…and it literally took my breath away a few times. Normally I don’t step foot outside my house when the temperatures dip into the single digits or beyond, and doing so only makes me even more thankful for my warm and cozy home with heat and hot tea and warm food.

We had a super fun weekend…lots of time at home with each other. We did house and nursery projects in the morning on Saturday, and went out for a spontaneous coffee date in the afternoon when we found out our favorite local cafe was doing a buy-one-get-one-free-coffee special for Valentine’s Day. We opted to stay in for the evening to avoid the crowds of people, and instead tried our hand at doing sushi rolls together. It was definitely not a huge success, but we still had a lot of fun and made a memory together, which is the important thing, right? We also had chicken lettuce wraps with our sushi and tiramisu to finish off the meal. Such a fun date night!

We took our Valentine’s date on Sunday morning (we have evening service church, in case anyone thinks we skipped church to go on a date, hehe), and bundled ourselves up against the zero degree weather and negative degree wind chill. We recently discovered a new favorite spot thanks to the recommendation of some friends and have been wanting to try their brunch for a while now.  The omelettes, toast, and home fries were spectacular, and well worth the snowy drive to Rochester. We saw at least four accidents on our way, and my southern soul kept thinking we should turn around, but Ben got us there safely! I love my dates with my handsome man.

Five things:

+ craving this
+ loving this
+ inspired by this
+ winter skin needs this
+ saving for this (haha)

What about you: what did you to for Valentine’s Day? Also, any tips for sushi roll success?

I’d love to hear your thoughts!

WEEKEND // in black and white + FIVE THINGS

February 09, 2015

1. Saturday morning breakfast date.
2. My sweet man stopping to buy me flowers.
3. New dining chairs!
4. Snowy roads.
5. Crepe date dessert.
6. Snowy day selfie.

There is only one word to describe our weekend: re-lax-ing. We were both away last week (Ben to Haiti, me to South Carolina), and didn’t get home from our flights until the middle of the night on Friday. And we spent mostly all of the weekend sleeping and eating…it was marvelous! I had a great time in South Carolina (the last one before the baby!), but it was so.so.so good to come home to my man again.

Here are five things:
+ eating this
+ wishing for this
+ and this
+ finishing this
+ inspired by this

What about you: what word describes your weekend?

I’d love to hear your thoughts!
