WEEKEND + FIVE THINGS

March 30, 2015

It’s allllmooooost APRIL, you guys!

It’s literally the best month of the year because a) my birthday, b) our anniversary, and c) BABY MONTH. What is not to love about April!?! Although I do think that this year the birthday and anniversary celebrations will feel a little back-burner next to the birth of our baby…because THAT’S THE BEST THING OF THE YEAR.

Clearly, we’re a little excited.

We spent half our weekend talking about the baby coming and the other half doing other things. We went out for a little breakfast date on Saturday morning (because you never know when it might be the last one sans children), and then I went on a major cleaning binge for the morning and scrubbed my kitchen from top to bottom. I love a clean kitchen, but wow, it’s easy to let those cabinet doors and drawers accumulate dirt and dust for months on end. But everything’s clean now and I feel so much better.

My windows on the other hand….it’s embarrassing. No, seriously, they are AWFUL. I love cleaning and taking care of my house, but windows….! They are my most dreaded chore. But hopefully I will have both the inclination and the energy to tackle them this week sometime! You can do it, Lish! Just wash the windows!!! You’ll feel so much better about life when you can actually see out of them again!!!!

Some good friends of ours invited us for dinner on Saturday night, and we had a super fun time eating a good meal and having good conversation. Plus, I got to hold their four-month baby girl and that made my maternal-hormoned crazed arms feel so happy for a little while. And plus, we had the most delicious carrot cake for dessert, and it like this perfect gift because while I’m not the biggest cake person, all last week I’ve been like “I just want a piece of carrot cake.” It was the best.

Sunday was a bright and beautiful day, and pleasant enough for a brisk walk before lunch with Ben and the dog. We haven’t been out for our Sunday walks in months, since I’m too sissy to subject myself to more cold than necessary in the winter. We spent half the walk talking about the baby coming (clearly we’re a little obsessed) and the other half talking about how nice summertime will be again. It’ll be here soon!

Here are five things:
– every woman needs listen to THIS
– making this
– and this
– laughing at this
– this is so pretty

What about you: what did you spend your weekend doing?

I’d love to hear your thoughts!

WEEKEND + FIVE THINGS

March 23, 2015

Hey guys!

It’s another new week full of beautiful possibilities! It’s not an overly busy week for us, but we do have a few evening activities and I have some events and things planned during the days, so the week will fly by…as they usually tend to do. I have a prenatal appointment on Wednesday and those are always fun because each time they bring us closer to having our baby! Plus, I love hearing that little one’s beating heart…it’s the sweetest sound.

We had a nice weekend and got a ton of things done (wahoo!). Ben worked on building us some end tables for our living room, since we’ve been using some of his mom’s furniture ever since we’ve been married. And I basically spent most of the day in the kitchen doing all sorts of baking and cooking…meatballs + mashed sweet potatoes + breakfast sandwiches for the freezer, and snack bars and our favorite chocolate cake (recipe soon!) for us. I’ve got the majority of my freezer cooking done, and I may have to just add to my list in order to keep myself busy the next few weeks!

We went out to dinner with some friends on Saturday evening, which was a really good time of conversation and burgers. I have been so hungry for a good hamburger, and this meal totally hit the spot! The sweet potato fries weren’t a bad deal either…love those!

Sunday was another snowy day, and we just set our minds to enjoying the coziness when we woke up to see the snow falling. It cleared off after a while, but we’re still not into warm spring weather here…soon! We had our typical Sunday day of rest, and somehow I managed to take a two-hour nap after breakfast! I don’t know when I’ve ever slept that long for a nap, but it felt uh-mazing.

Here are five things:
– this spring dress
– gonna make this sometime
– this is too cute
– this outfit
– this!

Have a great week!

What about you: what did you accomplish this weekend?

I’d love to hear your thoughts!
