WEEKEND + FIVE THINGS

April 06, 2015

It’s another new week! I like new weeks, because it just means there are endless possibilities for a lot of really great things ahead in the next seven days. No need to get the Monday doldrums, my dears!

We had a pretty low-key weekend, but one that was also full of meaning and celebration. Ben had off of work on Friday, and since we needed to run my mom and sister to the airport anyway, we headed into town a little early to grab lunch and do some shopping. It wasn’t too difficult to say goodbye, since they will be right back up on the baby comes…which is hopefully SOON.

We were just around home on Saturday, and then had dinner at a friend’s house with two other couples who are expecting babies as well! Naturally, the bulk of our conversations seemed to revolve around babies and birthing and such things, hehe. What can I say…it’s just our world these days.

Our church did an early service on Sunday for Easter, and it was such a meaningful time of reflection and communion together. I remember how I used to feel an almost kind of dread when it came to communion…like it was this big, scary thing that you had to get “right” or else. But in the last few years, communion has changed for me, and now I see it for the beautiful celebration of life and Jesus that it is. Of course it has it’s element of sobriety to it…but it’s mostly about celebration!

Here are five things:
– reading this
– making this
– love this
– and this
– inspired by this

Have a marvelous week!

What about you: what was special about your Easter weekend?

SURPRISES!

April 03, 2015

I had a big surprise this week!

My mom and sister came up to spend the week with me, and it’s been such fun! I don’t know if I’ve ever been quite so surprised and startled by something like this, and they’ve already done their fair share of surprises on me in the time I’ve lived in New York. Silly, wonderful people!

Ben and I were up in Rochester for the evening…date night, you know. We had dinner and went to a movie (this one! i highly recommend!), and it was such a fun evening. About ten minutes before the movie ends, Ben tells me that I should check my phone…so I do…and there’s only a few notifications from Instagram, which didn’t seem overly urgent or important to check during a movie. He leans over and swipes open the one that was from my sister, and I find myself looking a picture of her and my mom sitting underneath an airport gate for Rochester, New York!!!

I literally sat there for a couple minutes so confused and startled…but what a fun surprise!

It’s been such a good week, and it’s definitely helped my days pass by much quicker while we wait for this baby to arrive. We’ve done a lot of sitting around, reading, watching cooking shows (my sis is as obsessed as i am), cooking, and talking about how much we can’t wait till we have a little one to hold and play with. We went out for a crepe lunch one day, and they even took care of washing my windows for me. I cooked…they washed windows. It was the perfect trade, hehe.

They head for home today, and while we were all hoping the baby would decide to come while they were here for this visit, that’s not what’s happening this week. Oh well! It was still a super nice week, and we are that much closer to the end of this pregnancy.

Have a great Easter weekend!
